The 44th edition of the BBVA Torelló Mountain Film Festival arrives with more films on display, more sessions to enjoy and the possibility of seeing the maximum number of award-winning films in the classic Non Stop sessions

This year, an absolute record number of films submitted has been received, marked at 206 compared to 176 in the previous edition, with a total of 40 countries represented, also setting a historical maximum. The final selection rises to 58 films chosen from 18 different countries to be screened in the competitive sessions during the ten days of the festival. France (13) leads the participation in the competitive section, followed by Great Britain and Italy (6), and the United States, Canada and Spain (5). Unusual places such as South Korea, Japan, Nepal and Turkey also compete.
Given the quality and quantity of the films that will be screened, this year new afternoon sessions will be scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which will be integrated into the regular programming with screenings and activities throughout the week. At least twenty directors and protagonists of some of the films in competition will visit the Festival to present them.

JOAN SALARICH, Festival director: “The unprecedented number of films presented has forced us to be more demanding in the pre-selection and this factor directly raises the level of the films that will compete for the Golden Snow Flower. Especially in the Mountain Culture category, with an extraordinary participation that confirms the commitment to this theme for three years.”

Another of this year's novelties is the reinforcement of the offer and improvement of the schedules of the traditional Non Stop sessions, also in view of the great influx of the last editions, with screenings split between Cirvianum and Casal that will offer a selection of different award-winning films each. An opportunity for those who wish to combine them and see the maximum possible number of the winners of the 44th edition. The screening of the Grand Prize of the Festival, the Flor de Neu d'Or, will be during the Teatre Cirvianum session. The verdict of the jury and the programming of these sessions will be known on Saturday 21 at noon through the social networks and newsletter of the Festival.
